Limited Shopping Money

Posted by spymama on Aug-19-2011

I love browzing on websites and I also love to go window shopping. In a website however, I was surprised that they have a page they listed as January Clearancesales and it is now only in August… I wonder if they meant this years january goods or they mean those that are in 2012.. I simply do not understand but then again, a sale is a sale and everything is certainly looking good, no matter what month they are. I would have loved to shop for as much as I want except for some financial obligations which is stopping me to buy whatever I fancy… Guess we are all born into a commitment chain and it is very rare to find one without any, don’t you think so? So, should I start shopping for Christmas already?

Over the Moon over Mooncakes

Posted by spymama on Aug-16-2011

Mooncake, mooncake, I love you! Yes, I do. I enjoy eating mooncakes, of course in moderation.. oh well, I try..

Photobucket

When I am in the shopping mall, I always try the mooncakes in the mooncake fair at Atriums. They all taste so delicious, the free little bites.. I would usually buy the ones with the Yolk because the saltiness of the yolks balance up the extra sweetness of the lotus paste.. But then I know if there were one too many tastings or Atriums fairs on mooncakes, I would probably have to pop by the plus size lingere and plus size fashion store nearby because these most yummiest mooncakes just adds more width to my waist! And I take like about 3 months to half a year getting rid of just a few cms after these eating sessions! Can’t they make low fat low sugar mooncakes.. but would it be just as nice.. I agree!

Keepsakes

Posted by spymama on Aug-16-2011

A little girl in curly locks walked past me just yesterday. She looked like a doll. That reminded me of my youngest daughter.. who had curly curly hair when she was small. However, when she turned 3, the curlies were no longer apparent and her had had grown into straight long hair, thick and extra black… she looked as lovely too but it is not common to have curly or natural curls. I did wish that they would have stayed. I didn’t have many photos of her curlies taken then. How I wish I had kept personalized baby books for my children when they were babies and growing up. It would be a great keepsake or present when they have grown older. I know of a friend who got it as a gift when she turned 21 years of age. Her parents kept every milestone achievements in the book and dated them… how wonderful, right?

Tide You Over

Posted by spymama on Aug-16-2011

I can’t believe how time flies! It is already into August and before you know it, I am pretty sure that our next blink of the eye (okay, i’m exaggerating..) it will be Christmas soon. Then again, I always have cash flow problems because I tend to over spend before Christmas. Lots of things to buy, for the house, for myself and gifts for Christmas. And sometimes I get so financially strapped that I use my credit card to the max.. Did you know that sometimes you can also apply for something call payday loans to tide you through till your next pay check? It’s like getting your salary in advance especially when you know that you will need to spend more for the month and by the time you wait for your monthly salary, the Christmas season is over and you have no reason to be spending the money. I guess I would be doing that again this festive season, especially when New Year comes in a week after Christmas and following that will be the extra spending for Chinese Lunar New Year…*shudders…*

Moving

Posted by spymama on Aug-12-2011

I will be moving in two weeks’ time. There is a small cluster of shops in the area, some eating places, retail shops and even a small shop that sell medication supplies and medical equipment. I remember when my neighbour, an old man who is am amputee, asked if there is a shop selling such items. He does not really want to go to the mall as he does not like crowds, so this is a gem of a find for me and I can’t wait to inform him. Perhaps I should check what kind of products he is actually looking for so I can ask the sales person if they have it in their store. Besides this store, there is a small minimart, a bigger grocery mart and even a pizza takeout shop. Guess, I shall be feeding myself lots of pizza for supper when I move in soon!

Lefty Right

Posted by spymama on Aug-12-2011

am addicted to this application on iPhone which asks questions and tells you if you are one who is controlled more on your left or right brain. Sometimes even after playing it many times, you get similar questions and if you use your most spontaneous answer to the questions, I would say that it can be quite true. I know some people tell me that this is not conclusive but then, it is still fun for me. Most of the time (yes, most) they do give the same answer that I use my right brain more. And occassionally I get a Golden Brain (both sides) too. And I have never gotten the left brain answer. I guess I do use my right brain more since I am left-handed, preferring more visual than analytical in many aspects.

I wonder if they will start questions about our hobbies and what we like, from the simple questions like food - sweet, sour, spicy, etc or even colours - red, blue, green, black, etc or even questions like if we like urban clothing, shopping and sipping coffee in gourmet cafes or prefer laid-back lifestyle living in a farmhouse, riding into the sunset, having picnic by the river and not bothered by the paper chase and political mess out in the world…. hmmm penny for your thoughts.

Soulful Month

Posted by spymama on Aug-7-2011

Do you know that in the Chinese Calendar, this is the 7th month? And do you know that this is the month where the Chinese/Taoists/Buddhists believe that the gates of hell are open during this time and the spirits or souls are being released for the month? Some say during this time the souls or spirits of the dead, that roams the earth are also known to be paying families or loved ones a visit. I know of friends who will not accept any birthday invitations during this time but I really do not know why. Anyway once the 7th month is over, many birthday invitations are being expected as the 8th month of the Chinese Calendar is consider an auspiscious month.

But one thing interesting about this 7th month are the plenty Getai shows (live stage entertainment) that takes place from one town to another, and many holding auctions for auspiscious lucky items. For tourists who visit this month, it should be an eye opener to see Singapore in a different light.
