Hand Made Bakes

I have been busy.. baking! Well, it has come to the time whereby the Chinese New Year is just around the corner.. A friend commented that we hardly have yummy cookies that we slave over the hot oven and those that are hand-made. Those that are sold commercially tastes mostly of too much flower (flour) and sugar. She is right, you know. You don’t get to taste the yummy balance of eggs and coconut in these Chinese New Year Cookies because ingredients have been cut down to increase profit margins… Even they don’t use butter or good margarine because most of the time they may just substitute with those palm olein oil of a lesser quality.

So I decided to bake my own cookies this year, not baking a lot because no point gorging up too much. At least enough for guests and also one extra for my friend who had been complaining.. lol

Lovely Invitation

I had been invited to a housewarming party last week. It wasn’t a new home that my friend had this party. It was a party to celebrate because she renovated her home after a decade. She told me.. “I hadn’t done anything in 10 years!”

Wow.. I stepped on her “new” home on the newly laid laminate flooring, done up so beautifully that I felt like doing mine too… Her rooms had nice wallpapers for her sons (masculine colours of metal and blue) and for her youngest princess, a pink lacy room. It was really beautiful.. And her dining was like you had just stepped into a fine dining restaurant, with all the silver ware and stuff laid out for tea! Oh yes, she had scones for tea.. perfect. All nicely arranged on a lovely steel multi tier tray too. I’m jealous!
