We don’t remember numbers anymore

Posted by spymama on Dec-16-2010

We have really come a long way. Nowadays, if we were to go to a crowded place and get lost among the crowd, your family and friends are all within reach in just a call away. Not to mention your kids! In my time, when there were no cell phones, we all make sure we know where to wait or go when we get lost. And we all remember ALL of our friend’s and relative’s telephone numbers in their offices and homes! But now, we just click their names and press call. Sometimes we cannot remember whose numbers they are when the name does not appear.. Some good some bad. We have more passwords and other pin numbers to remember now. What a bore. I cannot simply remember too many pairs of user names, ids and passwords! But I used to be good at telephone numbers, not now.

In so many years, the most hardiest cell phones I owned are the Nokia ones, and the least happens to be Sony Ericsson.. but I like the design of the latter better. I do want to change to a new phone soon, if I have a budget.

NY NY

How I envy this new friend of mine. We had a short chat recent about the prices of airlines which is on the rise due to the increasing price of petrol. With this, many airlines’ tickets are set to increase or the taxes will amount to a bigger price to pay, overall. Do you think you will plan for a holiday then? My friend says he takes the plane and transit in Tokyo before he goes to New York. If it were me, and I have loads of spare cash, then I’d spoil myself on luxury luxury new york city hotels taking in the experience of a good accomodation as well as good meal too. Oh, not to forget, lots of shopping in New York would be nice too. But for now, this is a dream.. a wild dream.

Door Can’t Be Shut

Posted by spymama on Dec-13-2010

My kitchen door refuse to be closed. When it is windy, I needed to have it shut so that it doesn’t blow out the lighted stove when I have it on slow fire. The gas that is leaking when the fire is blown down is dangerous. I think when Papa had a look at it recently, he did commented that the hinge spring is not in the best condition. I guess I better get it fixed, as soon as possible. Also I worry that the door during a windy day may be slammed shut and then have problems opening up. That reminds me that I also need to get a new door because I hate to have my household all having lots of things that need fixing. I want to consolidate them all and get it all completed by the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Curtain-less

Posted by spymama on Dec-10-2010

I wasn’t joking, in my last post about my bright home. So I thought I should just rant a little more about it. My curtain rods was broken when a young child decided to have a swing on the curtain. Lucky she wasn’t hurt. The rods that were light since it was one of those woody empty inside type (from Ikea) broke when it couldn’t hold on to the weight of a 5 year old kid. And because I really dislike all the dust that will snow down when a new rod is being attached by drillings, I decided to postpone putting a new one up. Of course being extra bright during the day is a blessing to me because I do not need to turn on the lights at all if I need to read. But that doesn’t mean having a curtainless window is great at night. Lucky our windows are not facing any residentials except the roofs of a school next door. Otherwise we will have our ‘privacy’ issue with the next block neighbour!

No Progress in a Decade

Posted by spymama on Dec-10-2010

I think maybe I am the most backward person in Singapore.

Here we are, all full of technology, online systems and integration, great transportations, efficient government, hip and very in-looking top management, executives, ladies, men, teenagers in their branded fashion conscious gear and most up to date gadgets, with each owning at least a laptop, iPad, smartphone and another hi-tech device plus that tissue paper pack to reserve seats during lunch time.

And what about me. I think I have stopped progressing for the past decade. I, yours truly, myself - do not own the latest handphone, do not own a smartphone, have not seen or have a go at any psp, ipod touch tried iPad, iPhone, iEverything and nor do I have any of those flat and paper thin looking television at home. My curtain rods are broken and not being fixed, thus no curtains could be hung and the day look as bright as a treeless park.

So, what is wrong with me. I need to move forward, with the times. The only progressing thing I have is that my passwords, pins, whatsoever are just getting more and more and I don’t think my brain can handle it in years to come. Anyone know how to upgrade brain memory?

I don’t like Crowds

Posted by spymama on Dec-6-2010

I am dying for a holiday. Any kind of holiday. I have been working too hard. It is just a few weeks to Christmas and I know it’s going to be real busy at the shop. If you are looking for a good bargain for anything you need, best time would be to go down to Orchard after Christmas where the sale will be explosively big. That is as good as the Great Singapore Sale as many stores will be slashing down their prices like crazy so that they can bring in more clothes just in time for the Chinese New Year. I know I will be propped up by so many bodies who are probably also queing for wrapping service and wrapping papers. Not me though, I dislike crowds so you won’t find me there.

Yes, Pizza Hut Rocks Again

I once thought pizzas at Pizza Hut had turned from bad to worst. I seldom eat pizzas but prefer the Californian 2 for 1 or the Dominic’s Pizza anytime. But last week’s visit to try out their new cheese (7 types of cheese!) changed my mind and it tasted really yummy. The service at the outlet at Bukit Panjang was quite prompt and polite. I think if you are there to do a business, your sales/service staffs do make a lot of difference on your customers. They make or break your business.

Besides the new cheesy pizza, I also decided to try out the Sweet and Spicy drumlets from their appetizer section. Wow it was just totally delicious! It was succulent, had a nice sweet yet little bit of spicy taste. It got my mouth water just thinking about it. Perhaps I will visit the outlet again sometime next week.

Nope, I wasn’t paid to write this. This is purely my own opinion, and I write without prejudice. It’s my blog, remember?

It’s all online now

“Of course I’d like to look my best.” That was in my mind when Spypapa said that there is a dinner party coming up soon and he will let me know the exact date it will be. I told him, need to let me know in advance because I am not sure if I can fit into my party clothes anymore.. The only advantage we have now compared with the past is that we can just get online to source for sites like www.weightlossdietpills.net just to check if there are any quick way to lose that extra pounds fast. In the past, we rely on word of mouth and browze at real stores to see or read what is in the market. Nowadays, everything is available online, from purchase, reviews to even online questions you may want to post to for any info. What a great technology we have now.

Need to Know

Posted by spymama on Dec-1-2010

Many of my friends are in the same circle whereby kids have grown up and we no longer meet for playgroup days. We now talk about teens who hog the phone ever so endlessly and also we love to chat over coffee going on and on about various home remedies for curing acne on any day. And when we hear our children talk, their conversations are forever stuffs like latest gadgets like mobile phones, some psp games, cool fashion wear, new colours for the season and even foreign sounding words like kinect which is neither a Science project nor any fashion label. What do you think they are? If you don’t know, then it is time you google a search for it… After all, you do know what Xbox and PSP are, do you?
