Coffee Powder Dirt

Posted by spymama on Mar-22-2010

I was in a coffeeshop when I spotted something on the floor, on the way to the restroom. I took a closer look at it because this mess looked like some eye lashes! I thought to myself… how can there be eye lashes unless those are fake ones but I looked at my friend, she looked at me with a strange and killer look that went “Whhhaaaaaat?!”

Immediately, I brought my digicam out and hurried to the spot and took a picture of it… weird but I love to take photos, anything under the sun… My friend gave me a hilarious look when I showed her the pic I’d taken after that… and you know what? The people at the coffeeshop taught I was from some govt or environmental agency and asked if those pics I took will bring them to ’shame’ because they didn’t sweep it up for about a few hours!

Oh, by the way, those ‘dirt’ are actually coffee powder that had somehow found it’s way on the floor…

My Fave Shop is Closed

Posted by spymama on Mar-17-2010

I am so disappointed. The furniture shop at Great World City which I loved to shop at had been closed. Barang-Barang, as they call it, seemed to have gone for liquidation by creditors and banks recently. I just couldn’t accept that because their furnitures are all so nice. I didn’t have the chance to go for the liquidation sale although I wanted to so bad. If I had the chance, I’d have picked up some nicepieces of rustic furniture for my home collection. There used to be some furniture shops in Stamford House years back but seemed like all these niche shops are all closing down.. Is it the economy that is affecting them? High cost from operating expenditures, including high rent? Sigh.. where can I get nice furnitures like that without going to Ikea and have my home looking like a kid’s playground like everyone elses’?

Never leave home without it

When I was young, I had always been a short girl. When I was in my teens, I would always be in the front row when taking photographs because I would never never block anyone behind due to being a shorty of course. It was an advantage to getting a better view of the camera, sometimes even get to sit down in the first row. However, when the tables turned around and I was studying photography, my being a shorty was a disadvantage! I couldn’t take proper photos without standing on a chair, a makeshift short ladder or tip toe-ing… sigh, it was kinda embarrasing but there are a good number of photographers in my circle as well. One of them recommended me those aluminium suitcase that not only can store my cameras, filters and paraphernalia, those sturdy techie box can even hold my weight so that I can stand on them when taking ‘high’ shots! Wonderful, and I never even thought of that before that.. Now my trusty Rimowa is always the first thing on my mind in my travels, work and also as an extra stool when I travel and feel too tired to stand..  Perfect!

Now don’t you see why aluminium suitcases are popular among photographers, eh. Handy stuff, they are.

If there was an accident..

Posted by spymama on Mar-17-2010

I was on the way sending a friend to the airport last Wednesday. Along the way, an accident between a motorcycle and a car had just happened. There was no traffic jam nor any patrol car yet. The bike was crushed under the car and the car was not even facing the way of the traffic but against it. It looked quite bad. I usually try to spot the car registration plate for numbers but this time not even the plate was intact! As I drove past the accident scene, a group of 4 or 5 people were standing nearby. One of them, crowded among them had part of his face bleeding - I believe he is the victim of the involved accident. The ambulance had not arrived yet.

Situations like that could have happened to anyone so it is very very important to know what went wrong. Sometimes it makes perfect sense to get adequate coverage to cover not only damage to the vehicle but also medical coverage or even future earnings lost should one is handicapped after a bad accident. I didn’t know how important it was to hire the right people to fight for an accident case until I came across an online resource recently that gave sensible advise about hiring the right lawyers to fight for compensation, especially those involving motorcycles. I read that the pleasanton motorcycle accident attorney not only dispenses useful and advice on such situations, they are experienced lawyers specialized in them. They are able to give professional advice on all angles so that you can get the best possible settlement or compensation.

Grand Invite

Posted by spymama on Mar-11-2010

I received a wedding invitation a week ago. My friend’s daughter is getting married, and it will be a grand one since the groom is someone somewhat important in the VIP circle. Many things are in store with a grand dinner to finish the wedding. Lots of wedding favors are being planned, little details in beautiful silver and blue theme. Believe me, the wedding invitation card is so exclusively done, it includes 2 silver rings to depict getting hitched on the card front! They are also having an artiste crooning while the guests enjoy an expensive sit down dinner at a top hotel restaurant.. Wow, i think this will be the talk of the town wedding dinner so I must go find a perfect outfit for myself fast!

Nothing is Impossible

I enjoy going to the local mom and pop shop near my home. They are a small little air-conditioned provision shop selling anything and everything under the sun. I would go there for my odd papers, an ice lolly to cool myself in the hot sun, stamps to send my greeting cards, bread for morning breaky and a chat or two with the old man boss when I walk past. He works in an odd slow-mo manner patiently but it’s fine with me. I once asked if he has plans to upgrade his very very old and dated cash register to something else and I was surprised that he even showed me a brochure on a particular model - epson tm-t88iv, something he already has a keen eye on. I was impressed that he even went on to explain how such point of sale system can help him cut down on lengthy and manual work. It is not everyday you get to hear how an elderly is not afraid to upgrade, learn and pick up new skills involving latest technology systems. I applaud his positiveness despite his age and told him I will come visit him more often to spur myself learning new things everyday too. Oh, did I forget to mention that he uses a smartphone too!

Our World Now

Posted by spymama on Mar-10-2010

Has anyone wondered why lately there has been so much violence and deaths? Each time I read the papers, it’s casualty of some kind or another… war, terrorism, politics and even natural disasters… I get the feeling that they are escalating.. is it true about what they say about The End of The World.. hmmm I have no idea but I cringe when I read so many tragedies lately. Death cannot escape us but the way humans are dying leaves me with too much perspective that many of these are created by humans.

Is this a pre-destined solution to bring Earth back to the old stone age? Something to ponder, eh.

I took this pic one day when it was raining like cats and dogs… see how these people risked their lives… and it was raining.. are they asking for trouble..
