When accidents occur

Posted by spymama on Jul-27-2009

When I was young and learning to drive, I never thought much about car accidents. Then it was until I witnessed an accident between a car and the motorcyclist. It happened at a traffic junction where many cars were waiting for the change of traffic lights. This accident occured because a bike tried to beat the blinking lights to turn while the car driver was impatient waiting and had started to drive ahead before the cars turned green. In cases like these, sometimes the fault lies in one party for his negligent act. What if the victim is left with some physical handicapped and the guilty party gets away with it? This is the case of when one really needs to search for a good lawyer to fight for some compensation of some form since a victim may be spending as much as thousands to tens of thousands of dollars in medical and other fees. Leading by example is a Tacoma car accident lawyer from Rush, Hannula, Harkins & Kyler, L.L.P that has helped many victims recover compensations such as for wrongful death, loss of opportunity to enjoy life, disfigurement, disability, loss of current and future income, among some.

Must Have Beauty Formula (in my days..)

Posted by spymama on Jul-27-2009

Did you ladies had bad breakout when you were in puberty? Nope, never did. I thought I was blessed with good skin. My daily skin regimen was always mom’s homemade ‘Bedak Sejuk’ which was uncooked white rice that has been soaked for ages (err… like almost a year) in a large Horlicks bottle and changed water about few times a year. When it is time to rinse this soaked rice, I can tell you that the house stank really bad. Mom would cut up chunks of ‘Pandan leaves’ and scatter them with Jasmine flowers to camouflage the horrible smell as they were drying. These extra large sized pellets were then placed on newspapers under the hot sun. I remember how my sis and I would run upstairs and bury our heads in our pillows, moan and groan badly because they smell worst than the smell of a thousand Durians for one who abhors it.

Oh.. I have side tracked into the horrible smell of rice powder… well I just wanted to say that the rice powders after it is dried, when applied with some water and smoothed on our face, yields really good results but you will have to apply a layer of Hazeline Snow cream first. Then we can keep our skin youthful and fair. Those were the days of my beauty regimen.. But NOW, horrors of all horrors, as I am a late bloomer because it certainly looks like I may be in need of some good acne treatment very soon. Does that happen when you are in your second childhood?

I think perhaps it is time for me to start soaking rice in glass jars? I do want to get those gigantic Horlicks’ jars.. do they have those anymore lately? These rice powder are also sold but they use some perfume oil which I just cannot stand..

Anyone tried these Bedak Sejuk before in their time? It is something wonderful, natural and great for the tropical weather.

Honey, They Shrinked The Prata!

Posted by spymama on Jul-24-2009

I miss having mutton curry with prata. Despite being busy, Spypapa and I drove to Jalan Kayu for our Prata fix. We used to patronise this outlet for it’s popular prata many years ago. But since there are so many good food and prata outlets opening every where else, we hardly travel to Jalan Kayu. Sometimes we’d go to Clementi Road where the popular Cheese Prata shop is but we don’t really eat the Cheese Prata. And there are many lovely prata and teh tariks along the Bukit Timah road, across the Beauty World area.

I was shocked when I received my plate of Pratas… It has shrunk considerably! Or have I grown bigger or my eyes playing tricks? I’m not kidding.. The fork/spoon is the standard size so you know how small my prata is!!!!

Hmm blame it on the increased cost, I supposed. But there was hardly a crowd at Jalan Kayu.. My prata was not crispy hot but just warm.. sigh… perhaps that is why customers have lost their interest too?

The consolation was, the mutton curry still tastes awesome…

Maintaining Youth

Posted by spymama on Jul-24-2009

Yesterday when I washed my hair, I cannot help noticing that few strands of grey hair that seemed to stand out from the rest.. I remember that a month ago, I had just pulled few strands out and like they say, each strand you pull leaves more grey hair coming out! Well, I don’t really bother but it is just an irritating sight to see it. The only thing that bothers me more is whether I have lines, and I mean wrinkles! I better get my stock of wrinkle creams before I run out of them and have to pre-order them again. That was what happened the last time. Do you apply any creams that battle or fight against aging spots, lines, crows feet, bla bla bla? I started them since my late twenties because I heard that it is the time you lock in your youth. Well I am not sure how much truth is in that but I swear that I look in my twenties…hahahah JUST JOKING!!

Holiday Break

Posted by spymama on Jul-24-2009

There is every good reason to go on a holiday, no matter what mood you are in. Tired or not, it’s always NICE. I want to go on a nice relaxed holiday if I am not too financially strain lately. A lovely beachfront holiday under Outer Banks rentals would definitely do nicely… Sun, Sea and lots of good food and a nice book under the shades… Did I just tempt you? Everyone works hard at something or another. So do take that deserving holiday for yourself. If you cannot afford one yet, save up or look for an alternative. Some of my friends take the weekend off and stay in a nice  5 star hotel just to feel that holiday weekend mood. But I still want my holiday at the North Carolina beaches. Let me check my kitty..

Don’t forget to bring that SPF lotion wherever you go.

Cool Steel

Posted by spymama on Jul-14-2009

I was at a house warming party last month. A close friend had just renovated her home and it looked really great and homely. The best part is her kitchen which she equipped with many colourful and designer kitchen gadgets. She dressed it up in contemporary theme. I loved all the stuff she bought and I think if given the chance, I’d actually like to have a commercial looking kitchen with cool stainless steel equipments and the latest metal tiles that I’ve seen on the internet. In comparison with just a flat piece of stainless steel wall, metal tiles actually comes in many different designs, pattern and even have unique copper colours and snow matte finishing. Avant garde and maintainence should be a breeze.

No more country kitchens for me! I’ve had country kitchens for decades! Frankly, those dust on top of the cabinet shelves do make up the total look for country kitchen, though.. hehehe

How Effective Is It

Posted by spymama on Jul-6-2009

For years, I’ve come across many various diet pills sold. How does one actually determine which product can be considered the best weight loss pills when the list is so exhaustive? Frankly, each one has some X-factor in the ingredient and I’m pretty sure it works differently, on different individuals too. Some people can take to some ingredient while some cannot. We should read the labels carefully of course. Some people respond well to pills with an exercise regine in place. Some may not. It is also in our metabolism. Have you ever tried one before? I have, as a matter of fact, but I cannot remember which product or the name of it. All I can remember is that it works while I am asleep. So for those who find them ineffective, perhaps they aren’t the right one for you.
