I wish I can afford something nice

Posted by spymama on Jun-29-2009

I am amazed at how people dressed their car up to the nines! I saw this cute little Honda Fit the other day.. Well, it did not look very much like the original car.. because the Honda logo was stripped off and pasted with Ferrari Stickers and some other famous motor sport’s vehicle brands, here and there. It did looked cool and not at all overdone. I don’t think I’d be bold to even change so much or dress up anything except the interior of my car.. It would take me forever to save up for a Ferrari or perhaps buying Ferrari parts a little bit by bit and put together to make a non drive-able dummy car?

Anyone wanna sponsor me a nice sport’s vehicle..

Farrah Fawcett - RIP

Posted by spymama on Jun-29-2009

The other day, I was too devastated about the death of my idol Michael Jackson that I forgot to blog about another favourite of mine in the 70s. She is none other than Farrah Fawcett. She, too died on the same day as Michael Jackson, from a 3 year battle with cancer, at age 62. Farrah was among the hot stars in my time. I remembered how I got a brother of my school mate to do a silk screen on a round neck T Shirt that says… … Outsells Farrah Fawcett Poster… just text, in bold and red. Well, she was really hot stuff then and I watched Charlie’s Angels no doubt from the first season where the original stars started out. Everyone of us wanted to have her flippy long hair! We layered our hair and brush it back like hers….

To me, she is another legend star that I will remember. If you don’t know who she is, watch this You Tube I found about her.

Walk More Now

Posted by spymama on Jun-27-2009

I get breathless lately. Perhaps I’ve been exerting myself. I tried taking more walks in the evening to increase my fitness level. That explains less blog time lately too. Spypapa says perhaps he should get those treadmill for both of us to practise more walks at home. He says we are getting older and looking at many elderly people, being healthy is so important. Especially when Singapore is going to have a bigger proportion of elderly people in the next 10 years. Although I do like the idea of treadmill,I do actually like to go outdoors too. But he is worried that sometimes when the day gets darker and we have walked too far, we are too tired to walk back… hmmm… I suppose that does make sense, eh?

My King of Pop, Michael Jackson

Posted by spymama on Jun-27-2009

Well, I’m sure you all have heard of the death of King of Pop, Michael Jackson a day ago… It was a shock to me, because he used to be my idol, as a matter of fact. This year has not been a good year, with an increasing in death numbers. So what if Michael was accused of many other things. Can you actually blame him especially when he has been shot to stardom at the age of 5? He had not had a normal childhood and he longed for one, the reason he built his own ‘kingdom’ with many things that interest him, including a zoo and a theme park. And with all those papparazis hounding him day and night, news reports and negative remarks, it never occur to me that all those things he did or he may have done were true. I take it that there are too many envious people who’s out there to con or spoil his life.

But he did have one thing that is most priceless. His Talent. No one can produce such beautiful music, choreagraphy and put together such an astounding piece of art in music. Billie Jean is my all time favourite since I was in my teens! Slick moves.

And so the legend will remain a legend. A supporter will always be one. Rest in Peace, Michael.

When We Age

Posted by spymama on Jun-23-2009

I’ve been having some joint pains lately. And I feel extremely tired too. I tried taking Glucosamine tablets that Spypapa buys but I get allergic to it because it has sulphur. I guess when a person grows with age, his or her health suffers.. I should have avoided unhealthy foods for years but then it is really hard not to succumb to it. My mother suffers from Arthritis pain in her hands and legs.. Many of her friends get that too and my neighbour told me that even her dog cannot run away from such illness. Yes, it doesn’t just affects humans but animals too. She gives Hero (her old 15 year old dog) a medication called Rimadyl - which acts as an effective pain reliever specially formulated for canine arthritis. Guess, dogs even have their aging woes too, eh?

Prevent Break-ins

I read with much amusement about the news about shops that install fake surveillance cameras and alarms. It was reported that these cost about a quarter of the full cost of the real ones and less hassle, such as no wiring. Do the fake ones really deter burglars? I can’t say for sure because I do not have the figures. However, an alarm is really a good choice if you are not at home most of the time. An alarm is useful because they are usually linked to the security personnels for any crime or burglar that may have taken place. There’s too many homes being burglared in the news lately and the loud siren or an alarm can be a good thing to caution neighbours that a break in had happened. Neighbours can help each other at the onset of an alarm by contacting the neighbourhood police or security guards and spot for suspicious strangers.

Move It

In the past months, I’ve been doing nothing much except sitting and blogging and also playing pc games. That certainly cause me to add on some extra kilos around my hips. I had not really been walking as much too. In my mind I procrastinate when it comes to doing exercise, playing games or even going for a swim. Blame it on the weather, blame it on errands or just blame it on anything. It won’t be very long before I start to source for a top diet pill, I figured.

I have been wanting to get myself a mountain bike or just any other bicycle. I loathe those that are stationary equipments. I think the wind in my hair while cycling beats that. I need to check out the bicycles fast before I lose interest again. I need to lose weight fast! And I got to cut down on those heavy laden caloried deep-fried foods..

Cactus Taboos

Posted by spymama on Jun-8-2009

I love gardens but I don’t have a garden. In my mom’s house there is a big garden with lots of fruit trees and flowering plants. Last month, I came across this cactus that she planted for ages but remain hidden for years. I thought it was a bit unique and wanted to get some baby cactus so I can bring some back. Then again, I heard from friends that we cannot plant cactus in our homes. It’s bad for Feng Shui. But they say is good to plant them outdoors. Any of you heard that grandmother’s tale before? I certainly do not want to do things that may not be good for vibes or any of that sort. Should I or should I just forget planting cactus?

I know that they say it’s bad to keep cactus in offices too. I cannot remember why but it’s something about preventing office politics and colleagues stabbing on your back. What do you thing? Is this Asian taboos?

I Do Not Like Printed Maps

Posted by spymama on Jun-5-2009

I sent my car for servicing this morning. In this package, I received a new 2009 edition of the road map. The road map I have currently is the 2004 version. Yes, it’s been a while since I last bought the latest map of Singapore. Do I really need it? Perhaps I do since I get lost most of the time driving in this small island they called Little Red Dot. Since this map is free with the service package, I’ll take it. However, my map stays in the glove compartment, still in mint condition and will stay that way for the next years..

If I have the money, I would prefer to get one of those gps systems instead. Gadgets like that work better for me my brain is just not registering printed maps. A voice that directs me to my destination is more like it. I know there are many phones that has this application but the ones installed in the car looks bigger and more effective. My friend has one and it gives her the confidence to drive to far away places and not have to worry about reading road maps. No worrying about being late for any appointment too if you are a field salesperson.

So, why are they still printing road maps if these electronic ones are easier to use?
