Just Thinking

Posted by spymama on Apr-11-2009

I followed Spypapa to Autobacs in Bukit Batok recently. He needed to change his car tyres before the yearly assessment. I stood in the waiting room at the mezzanine floor. This room has a glass panel for you to have a good view of your car during the change of tyres. I get to watch the technicians work on the automotive lifts to lift the car up. Everything is automated. I liked the part where they were working onf the wheel balancing thingy. Each wheel is taken care of individually with the use of some computerized panel. I wonder how much does one need to know to be working in such an environment filled with so much automation and technical stuff. Do they get to learn about these complex stuff from Universities or Polytechnics nowadays. Or do they pick it up through On Job Training?

Just wondering for a non-experienced woman like me, will they employ?

No More Juice

I had a chat with my insurance agent who handles my family’s policies. She asked me to upgrade my health shield plan to some elite plan since I’m not working and I am getting more advance in my years. Of course I do worry too. Health plans are necessary. And I do so want to look for a job but I don’t know what can I do. Do I have to look for jobs like those in McDonalds or in kitchen or waiting at tables?

Especially now that I have stopped working for quite a number of years. I regretted not getting myself enrolled in those courses like accounts or business as I find that at least some of the clerical and finance jobs are still available in the market. Never mind if they do not command a better salary rate now but better than what I used to do, Design related. Design Jobs are not for those who have aged as they are very demanding and takes up so much of over time and brain juice. When you are over forty, you run out of juice (everywhere…lol).

At least with those type of accounting courses, one can still get a job in general and administrative duties.

What is Wrong with Me?

I’m so bad with photo taking. I can never take a good photo right. Sigh..

Spypapa was driving yesterday on Good Friday. We were heading towards Bugis area. Passing by, I got my camera ready, my body leaning. The car went into a slow cruise. I told Spypapa I’m gonna take the photo of Singapore Art Museum. He said I’ve got a good chance since I’m on the left side, where the museum is. Then, snap! Immediately, I knew, NO GO! That darn black box thingy blocked the most important view, where the signage shows Singapore Art Museum.

Sigh. Then he said, never mind, get ready and take from the side, another great view. YES, I got my camera ready as he cruised slow.. no cars behind… Get Ready, Mark my position, camera straight line, lock my armpits, SNAP! I was so pleased with myself… Yippeeeee!

I set my camera to view function and GASP! No No NO! That is not the Singapore Art Museum! DARN DARN DARN! That was DOME cafe located next to Singapore Art Museum. Bah!

Perhaps next time.  #$%^&!@#$@!@!

Mind Your Dogs, Please

Posted by spymama on Apr-10-2009

In the afternoon, I like to take a stroll around my housing estate. There is a whole lot of upgrading going on. They are going to upgrade the children’s playground because I saw some works that just started last week. A block away is my favourite patch of vegetable and herb garden, by the outdoor gym. This was built about a year ago. It is a community garden. Anyone can take part to contribute and help maintain or grow their own herbs or vegetable plant on the allocated area. However, I learnt last week that they are now considering to put up some fence installation as some of the plants are being destroyed by dogs. There are hardly any stray dogs here so I believe some dog owners have been irresponsible by letting their pets roam into those areas. I hope they will punish these owners because the people have actually put up a lot of effort in planting these community garden.

Furniture Have ‘Clothes’ Too

How ignorant I am. I love to drive around the Rochester Park area and sometimes check out those eatery that has a little of outdoor garden and environment. In the evening, it gets really romantic with the wine and dine mood. But then few days ago, the weather was really bad and it had been raining the whole afternoon, causing flash floods in the Bukit Timah canal to flood. Some cars were stranded, luckily I didn’t take that route on that day. I then cancelled an appointment with two of my girl friends because I think in such dreadful weather, I would not want to be sitting on those rain soaked chairs. It was then that I learnt from my friend that they have those special protectors like the patio furniture covers whenever they are closed for operations. Oh I didn’t really know that but I thought how cool it is. Perhaps I should get one of those covers myself to protect my wicker chairs in the balcony?

When My Mobile Rings…

Posted by spymama on Apr-9-2009

Traffic offence have been on the rise lately. Many people are caught for speeding, drunk driving, driving on bus lanes and more often lately for using handphones without a headset. I get very panicky whenever my handphone rings when I am driving. I usally have my handphone in my handbag and I cannot remember which compartment it is in.. It would take me a while to look for things and if the phone rings while I’m driving, I’d rather just ignore it. But lately I am missing quite a few important calls and I think I should be getting one of those Bluetooth headset so that I can not bother to look for my earpiece and fix it up. I also prefer one that is not complicated to use. I am rather bad at gadgets..

I guess I should go check out which brands and types are suitable for my Nokia.

Bah, Those Breasts!

Posted by spymama on Apr-6-2009

Breasts.

Yes you heard me correctly. I said breasts.

This is not any x-rated posting but just that I don’t understand WHY my girls have these interests in Breasts.

They are not endowed yet. Years to go.. But any jokes, questions or topic, they never fail to ask me about it. My eldest will ask me, Mama, when you were young like me, did you have breasts yet? When did you wear a Bra? Why do breasts shake ah. How come mine is not big? She asks, when will she get one as big? She cannot wait to grow up and have…. Breasts.  sigh. I told her that while it is growing, she might feel uneasy and a little painful at the chest. Need to wear the support.

They love to talk about breasts that go a-jiggling. They fix their curious eyes at women’s breasts and tell me in a loud whisper that “Mom, that lady’s neh neh boo boo is shaking shaking..” Eeekkkkkkkk! Mom pretends not to hear that, but surely that lady heard it?!

And don’t laugh at what happened this morning ok? We were in a lift. My youngest daughter was looking at me.. I didn’t know what was on her mind but she looked … cheeky. Very cheeky.

In the lift, were…  a father and his two daughters, also ready for school. A male neighbour in office attire. Then, my daughter, lift up her hands to my breasts and did …coochy coochy coo!! ON MY BREASTS!!

WAH LIAOOOOOOOOO!!!!

i’M NOT SURE IF ANYONE SAW BUT WE WERE ALL IN THE LIFT, IN A SMALL LIFT OKAY?!!

I quickly reached my girl’s hand, gave her a pretend smile and held her hand so tight. Gosh going down 10 levels sure felt like eternity…sigh..

I quickly got out of the lift when it touched ground with my girl… what can I say? I have to make sure I don’t bump into those men again!! How embarrasing! I told my girl in the car NEVER NEVER to do that again.. and she went “neh neh neh boo boo…”

I Love Horses But…

Posted by spymama on Apr-3-2009

Spymama just loves horses. I have been wanting to ride on one ever since I was that mini spygirl. My mom was the one who started it. She brought me to the races! Not the normal races that adults go to gamble, but the type where they allow kids in when they are scrutinizing new young horsies for race potential. We get to go near, take photographs, pat them and there are balloons and games for kids, like a carnival.

I even pestered her to get me equestrian apparel to wear and surprisingly mom never said no. I had this secret ambition of learning horse riding and eventually be one of those who rode and win in races. Have you ever had such wildest dreams like that? As I grew up, the thought never left me, (till now). What can I say, the only thing that has held me back is money. Horse riding does not come cheap. Now that I am a little overweight, it is no use harbouring such thoughts… the horse would suffer a back problem if I were to sit on one…LOL

Lend Me A Pen

Posted by spymama on Apr-3-2009

I rummaged through my drawer just now. I can’t understand why can’t I find a pen when I need one? Murphy’s Law is apparent.. sigh. When I do not need it, I see them lying in every nook and corner at home and sometimes have few pens in my drawer. But today…Grrrr….

So I decided to take everything out from the drawer. I cannot believe the things in my drawer! I have ribbons, Mickey Mouse purse, white board marker, calculator, an empty Ginvera box without my Spot Cream inside (who took it?), a portable hard drive (still new in the packaging!), a memory stick for my ‘kaputted’ Sony Ericsson mobile, my lozenges, newspaper receipts, hairclips, Coca Cola miniature collectibles and lots and lots of stuff.

LOTS OF STUFF EXCEPT A PEN!

NOW, WHAT IS IN YOUR DRAWER?

Hi Tech Beach Bums

Posted by spymama on Apr-3-2009

Flipping through magazines showing lovely pictures of houses at the Outer Banks just leaves me filled with that desire to move away. I want wide open space and a full view of the sky without any buildings, malls, man made stuff. Temperate climate and wide expense of open beachfront is something that can only be a dream. Singapore living is about lots of buildings - left, right, center! Even in beaches, you see the people and all the gadgets they bring, is just too much of the city life. I am not joking, I once saw this group of campers who even bought their own television set and sound systems, all connected to their own generator…. sigh. Can you imagine why these people might as well just stay home indoors if they are going to bring all these stuff for camping by the beach?

Believe me now??
