Detectives of their own kind

Posted by spymama on Mar-26-2009

I saw these pictures on my desk yesterday morning. Spy Kiddo had been using my PC to print out her stuff. She is now into ‘printing’ anything she took from the digital camera I let her used during the holidays. I looked at the pics and went ‘whoaaaa..’

“What are these?” ..looking and scrutinizing at the pictures and rotating them. “why are you taking such photos”

Spy Kiddo said.. “Well, Momma… you and Dad were sleeping and so we pretended to be detectives and planted some hidden spy camera at that time. These are the shots we took. We did good, Momma, real good.”

Err well… I don’t know, what can a picture with a mosaic pattern, bed, pillows and a piece of used tissue do, I wonder? What do you think? Any clues?

Vacation Nearby

Posted by spymama on Mar-26-2009

Spykiddos made a fuss two weeks ago. We told them we were going to neigbouring country for a vacation. “Why, Momma.. Didn’t you promised us Orlando vacations last December? We want to go to the Disneyland there. The theme parks. And you and Dadda can go check out that casino you always wanted. Didn’t we have a pact?”

Err.. so what happened? Well for once, we felt that it was too costly and we should be wise in our spending. Anyway, there are themed parks in the neighbouring countries too and there are those game machines and table games for adults too. More value for money. With the money saved now, we can stretch a little longer. So, I’m trying to teach them to be more prudent with their money. After all, we should all save for that rainy day, right? Orlando can still be in the agenda, we need to plan a little longer, that’s all.

Extra Cautious

Few years ago, I watched a home just across mine swept in flames in just an hour. It was terrible. Lucky thing, no one was home so nobody got hurt. As we live in apartments, those who live in the next door unit and on the top floor gets affected, of course. The smoke engulfed the insides and you could see some of the orange coloured flames licking the windows, probably burning the curtains. Although the fire alarm was sounded in minutes, the firemen had an unsuccessful attempt in trying to break open the front door because of the iron grilled gates. In an hour, the place was all burnt to a dark ash and it looked pitiful. It was hours later when the owners of the house returned and you could see that they were shocked and had to be consoled. Health and safety comes first but alas, it is still a loss to them. In the following week, the place was miraculously repainted and done up. I believe that is because every homes in Singapore needed to purchase a fire insurance policy for instances like these. Since then, whenever I hear alarms that go off, I get very fidgety. In fact, like most Singaporeans, I’ve got my ready bag for a mad dash with important documents, just in case. Okay, so I am just more than cautious. I am just obsessive compulsive paranoid. Aren’t we all? Humans…lol

Please Don’t Make Me Run

Posted by spymama on Mar-26-2009

The week’s school holiday that ended on Sunday was like a flash memory.. Did it just whizzed me by? Wow! And before you know it, tomorrow is Friday, meaning a week has also just swished away. Does that mean that I’ve completed almost a week of dieting from all that unhealthy food that I ate while on that holiday week? Because I still feel heavy, sluggish and felt like I had just eaten a plate of fat laden Fried Kueh Teow or a bowl of Laksa. I know if not for my budget before my next pay check comes in, I’d be splurging on the best weight loss pills that may be available in the market. I had been telling myself that I want to get into action, I mean E.X.E.R.C.I.S.E. Did I say exercise? Oh… Do I look the part that I will run and get sweaty all over? Not for a 100 years!

Not For Sale *Grrr!!!*

I found this picture I took a month ago on these lovely loaves of bread at Toastbox. I was at Vivocity, the mall just across Sentosa. Spymama loves anything authentic or traditional of the old old days and retro. Perhaps this is a way to stop growing old and cling on to my younger days… ???

Anyway, I saw these yummy loaves on the shelves and was delighted. I walked straight to the cashier and told the lady that I wanted to get a loaf of those bread..

To My Horror !!!

You know she told me what? Not for Sale!!

Those are for Displays!!

Can you imagine my embarrassment? Then why you put that darn looking delicious things there! Grrr… *walked away looking frustrated to cover my embarrassment…*

Parting Ways

Posted by spymama on Mar-25-2009

Spymama is a little bit sad today. Not because of anything that has happened but because I am finally deciding to give away whatever baby bedding and infant and kids’ toys that I have been holding on for the longest time. I have been keeping them for many years because they are so dear to me and only part with several items each year.

Spypapa joked, It’s time to get rid of those antiques… unless you are considering another child…

There is no way I could have another baby at my age of course but the thought of keeping these stuff for my Spygrandkids did come to mind…  I have to face it. My girls are grown. They aren’t physically babies but they are still my babies. We still do the occasional ‘hugga-hugga’ but they are now vocal, have their own minds and they certainly know how to fight for their rights wants!

Like every mama, we dread the day when they leave our nest home and they become a part of another family. How lonely I would be..  It was like only yesterday when they were little infants blowing saliva bubble in their little toothless mouth and only know how to cry or call for that ‘melt in your heart’ Ma Ma…

Who goes, Who stays

During the holidays, food taste better (most of the time). Perhaps it is because our body is in a relaxed mood. And no stress and incomplete work or deadlines to meet. Put everything aside and concentrate on enjoying your holiday. For the past 5 years, I always bring along my helper whenever we go on a holiday. She gets to enjoy visiting other countries instead of the country she works in and the home country she goes back home to every year. In the next two years, we thought of planning for a trip to the states in San Diego. My friends are saying that we should be leaving her in the agency while we go for the trip and just bring my daughters. However I have not really decided on that except browzing through various San Diego hotel websites online. If I can afford an extra ticket, I’d bring her of course. With a helper around she can help me with watching my girls if Spymama and Spypapa goes for a night out at the casino. *wink* And I am stress free.

I cannot breathe

Posted by spymama on Mar-23-2009

Driving to Malaysia was a little stressful for Spymama. That is because I am allergic to dust and smoke, especially second hand smoke. In Singapore, much has been done to curb smoking, including banning of smoking in public places within certain distance of the entrance, car parks, restaurants and no smoking in all air conditioned buildings. That is good news to Spymama of course.

But in Malaysia, I cannot run away from it. You can smell cigarette smoke even in indoor places and enclosed air conditioned malls. At the entrance, many are puffing away. The car parks are all smoky not only from the exhaust smoke but cigarette smokes. I would love to wear my Hello Kitty face mask but what would people think, right? It is not an insult but just for my own health condition. But I didn’t of course. I got one of those portable air purifiers for my car so when I need to have fresh clean air, I went into the car for a while or else I’ll be wheezing badly.

I guess I want to thank the Gahmen of Singapore for providing me with such a healthy and clean air and environment in Singapore. This is one thing that I appreciate and feel how wonderful it is at home. I can breathe easy.

Motor-Mouth

Posted by spymama on Mar-23-2009

Yesterday, a lady called up on our landline. She didn’t say her name but she kept on talking about a bank product on some policies. She didn’t even give me a chance to say anything and kept on rambling in a monotonous tone about something like ‘..i’ve got a special offer for you if you buy this policy now you will get a special extra cover on bla bla bla bla…” Gosh that was so irritating cos all I did was answer the call and when she asked if I was Mrs T, she just started her motor mouth!

I really detest such marketing sales. They sound so desperate, unprofessional and do not really give a good impression at all. Perhaps she has a target that if she were to mouth the whole few paragraphs of words out on the phone, she gets a small commision for that ‘protocol’ work done? Well, it doesn’t work for me. Cos I could hardly understand anything she said! If I would want to get an insurance quote anytime, I’d have written out my questions after reading the policy from a pamphlet or online information or even from MY insurance agent. These cold calls are just way too much!

Unsettled Cravings

Posted by spymama on Mar-23-2009

Okie Okie, I know it was wishful thinking about that Ferrari in my earlier post. Actually right now a more realistic and down to earth wish is to go out and eat Nasi Lemak. I’ve been craving for that in the past week. I didn’t get to eat that while on my short holiday. Aaah well. Anyone knows of a good Nasi Lemak in Singapore? I used to go out for Nasi Lemak supper time with Spypapa at Fong Seng’s near the Cheese Prata shop near NUS. But lately Spypapa had to take some medication for his high blood pressure and he also had been sick… so I had to curb my craving too for fear that he would go overboard on all those unhealthy food.

So now how.. my saliva is just drooling crazy.. even last night I dreamt of swimming on a bed of Nasi Lemak.. I want mine with lots of Chilly Sambal and Anchovies. And throw in that Saba fish too. And the Sambal Brinjal, Fried Egg, Otah, that crispy Mermaid Fish… oh just throw in everything you got!

Pic above taken when I went to Old Town to try their Nasi Lemak.
