Need to Shop Now

Posted by spymama on Dec-20-2008

I’m in a daze lately. I do things like clockwork, getting up, doing my chores and looking blank. There are alot of things in my mind actually. Like things to buy, things to do before end of the year, school books to get, new shoes and my resolution diet before Chinese New Year.. And what about my Christmas shopping? It is only 3-4 days away from Christmas! I haven’t completed my shopping yet and I think I have put on my armour and fight my way amongst the crowds to get some Christmas stuff for the family. I am thinking of getting a bicycle for myself too. How can one wrap a Christmas gift for oneself ah? LOL

Second Hand Rolex in Low Demand

Posted by spymama on Dec-17-2008

Do you own a Rolex? Many businessmen and younger generation own a piece of luxury watch somehow. When I was working, I had wanted badly to own one. Each year when the 13th month pay is being paid out or when the company reports that we will get a big fat bonus, my mind wanders on into that piece of Rolex piece I have been eyeing.

Yet, each time I get some money in any sort, the idea of really buying one just diminish. I weighed against many other things I need. And when all my friends got their own Rolex, I got myself Swatches, Solvil Titus, Adidas and Esprit watches. Those were dreams which I know will not materialize for me because I just couldn’t see myself in this kind of Bling.

Then the news recently reported that many people are now trying to sell their Rolex watches to second hand shops but these watches are not very in demand, being second hand. That is because new ones are now selling at a much lower price since the demand for this watches is lesser. So why would anyone want to buy a second hand Rolex when a new one is priced competitively near. In fact, those who CAN afford pocket change to buy a Rolex timepiece would not be buying them second hand. Don’t you think so?

Great World City

Posted by spymama on Dec-15-2008

I was at Great World City the other day. Wanted to run an errand and get to the Market Place to get my favourite pesto. I stopped by the food court and only realized how much they changed. Or have I not been to the food court before? I seldom come here to shop but I do come down every other week for some grocery shopping. They have some nice things that the local supermarts don’t have. Perhaps because they cater more to the town folks who are made up of more expats.

The food court was pretty empty. It was done in a nautical theme. Pretty cool. It was only about a little over 10am and great, I can sit and have some brunch without the crowd. Had some prata from a funky stall with pink coloured walls. The prata was just alright. I prefer those sold in neighbourhood stalls.

Work Out or In

Spypapa and I went to the mall after dinner yesterday. At the atrium, there was a roadshow selling fitness equipment. For the longest time, we talked about having our own in the room but those were just talks. We had been window shopping to decide which of the best equipment to buy. Years back, we had a power rider that became a white elephant. We bought it from the TV commercials that came with a number. Then, we bought the chair that could gallop. And it is now another white elephant in the corner. We did ride on it for a while but never got past the second month.

I prefer to use the one at the gym because the environment is somehow better. Home is just too cosy. But lately I’ve been too lazy to drop by the gym so I am now thinking about getting one of those stationery bike. Or the threadmill. Cannot decide. The thing is. Will my house become a zoo for white elephants. Perhaps I should get one of those lazy chairs that could massage away my aching back…

Of Grey Hairs, Age Spots and Wrinkles

Posted by spymama on Dec-14-2008

I took a look at the mirror closely. There was a hair not in place. One that stood up prominently and Ooh that was my grey hair! Gosh! In this year alone, I noticed grey hairs so I am fretting. I don’t have a habit of having my hair coloured because my hair has very fine texture and tends to drop easily. So colours are out. Why do grey hair always springs out from our head of hair? Sigh… Then I started to scrutinize my face. Pigmentation.. gosh, how I wish I can find a good cream for that. I think mine are beginning to look like age spots.. Am I getting paranoid? No, I’m being truthful. Then looking at the corner of my eyes… Wrinkles! or are they Laugh Lines? Ohhhh now I am going to get hysterical! Yikes Yikes! Should I start a dose of Lipovox now? Botox are scary and I hate needles.

Let me grow old, but gracefully. Did these all appear in one year alone? What’s your wish for 2009? It’s only weeks away.

I Love The Library

Posted by spymama on Dec-14-2008

I am in love with Libraries. Sorry if it sounds boring to you.. hehehe But in a library, with all its quietness and peace, I am very relaxed. Seeing books lining up shelves are my greatest joy. I’d walk and browze at the cookery, crafts, design and all that aesthetics. I love the art section. It gives me lots of inspirations to do things. When I am feeling down, a visit to the library does perk me up. Lately when I visit the library, I was shocked to find so many empty spaces in the shelves. Why are there so many missing books? I asked the friendly lady at the counter, She was a little old lady who had been there for years, sporting eyeglasses and a little bun, perfect fit for a Librarian… LOL! She told me it is the school holidays and everyone gets to borrow TWICE the number of books (normal number is 8 books) and many are taking this time to borrow them. Wow! That is just great. As much as I like to borrow them back, I also like to read them at the library’s comfy sofa and enjoy the cool airconditioned place.

Let me tell you a weird habit of mine. When I am in the library, I have this tendency to go visit the toilet! hahahah! Libraries relaxes me and I can purge happy. Then I won’t feel constipated! So each time when I feel as if I haven’t gone for days, I’ll make a visit to the library!

What is your secret habit? Please share!

Did anyone see the recent photo of Jennifer Aniston on GQ Cover yet? I saw the news online my yahoo news and i quickly clicked on the picture online and saw the cover! For the first time GQ has a women in this magazine, which always has been having men. Jenniffer was reportedly wearing nothing except for a tie. I am not sure if the picture has been doctored or not, but this picture certainly shows her off. In case you miss the pic, I did a print screen for you to have a look, so that you can see I got it online.

What do you think? Sexy? A friend told me she looked abit on the scrawny side.

Cash for Vacation

Posted by spymama on Dec-10-2008

You’ve got to admit. Not everyone can afford a nice holiday travelling the world. It is certainly not a great idea to rely on your other half for expenses as you know that every thing you buy or spend will be accounted for. With your own money, even if you have wasted it on a nice looking bag that breaks in a week because you stuff too many things in it, no one is going to tell you off that it is a waste of money. You have no one to answer to because you made a mistake buying something you don’t need. That is why, I really need to find ways to make a little pocket money. In my mind, all that accumulation could lead to that longed for Vegas vacations. Well, just hopefully I can multiple some money or make the vacation all expensed paid for by a lucky star.

All I Want For Christmas..

Posted by spymama on Dec-10-2008

I sweep the house every morning with a broom. I wished I had a vacuum cleaner that is light and portable. I have two, a rechargeable one that I use for vacuuming the car, and another one that is very big and bulky. It is such a chore using this that I only take it out once every week to vacuum the beds and sofa.

Now that Christmas is coming, there is nothing but to wish for one of those Sebo vacuum cleaners from Santa. I read that it is very effective for those with allergy problem, which will be good. My family has a history of sinus and we all wake up with all that horrible sniffing and achoo-ing. And whenever I clean the house, I wear my Hello Kitty mask (don’t laugh) so that the dust do not tickle and trigger off another attack of wheezing. So, All I Want For Christmas… “hellooo Santa, you heard me, don’t you?”

Mad about Weight? Please, No!

Posted by spymama on Dec-10-2008

Oh oh.. I read in the recent news that Oprah Winfrey had put on so much weight that she now weighs 200 pounds. Reports say that she developed a fear of working out due to her thyroid problem and has been gaining weight since 2006, her last weight at 160 pounds.

She was quoted saying “I’m embarrassed, I’m mad at myself.”

Whoa there, that got me thinking why must she be embarrassed and mad at herself? After all, there are people who are overweight be it genetic and those who put on after having children and there are also those who just put on because they cannot stop eating.

She had been setting an example of keeping her weight down in many ways - personal trainer, personal food consultant and more. She could afford it, of course.

If I could afford it, I’d love to keep my weight down too. But honestly, I can’t afford such luxury. But I’m not embarrassed about putting on weight. I’m conscious about it and wished I’d be slimmer but I believe many many other people would have been terribly disgusted with themselves if being overweight is an embarrassing issue. I hope it’s not. I know some good friends who are obese and they are genuine kind souls.
